Victor introduces the creature—now calling himself Adam—carefully to society. Some recoil from his appearance, but others see past it to his intelligence and kindness. Adam becomes Victor's research assistant. Together they publish groundbreaking work on the nature of life. Adam never fully escapes prejudice, but he finds purpose and, eventually, acceptance.
